Geraldine Clarkson

Geraldine Clarkson lives in Warwickshire. Her poems have appeared in many
journals including Poetry, The Poetry Review, The Rialto, Poetry London, Ambit,
Magma, Shearsman Magazine, Tears in the Fence, and Under the Radar; and have
been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 Proms Extra, and performed by the Live Canon ensemble. She has been commended in the UK National Poetry Competition, a finalist twice in the Mslexia Women’s Poetry Competition, and a winner of the Poetry London and Ambit competitions, and Magma Editors’ and Anne Born prizes.

Her prose poems are included in This Line Is Not For Turning: An Anthology of
Contemporary British Prose Poetry (Cinnamon Press, 2011) ) and The Valley Press
Anthology of British Prose Poetry (Valley Press, 2019), and she has poems in
various other anthologies, including The Best British Poetry 2014 (Salt, 2014), The Furies: A Poetry Anthology of Women Warriors (For Books’ Sake, 2014), and The Poet’s Quest for God (Eyewear, 2016). A selection of her work was showcased in Primers Volume 1 (Nine Arches Press, 2016), and her first pamphlet, Declare (Shearsman Books, 2016) was a Poetry Book Society Pamphlet Choice. Her third pamphlet, No. 25, published by Shearsman Books in 2018, has also been made into an audiobook.

She has read at venues in London, New York, Dublin, Cork, and Edinburgh, and at various festivals around the UK, including the first Verve Poetry Festival in Birmingham. With support from Arts Council England, her first full-length collection is due from Shearsman Books in 2019.
