Abeyance

£6.00

Winner of the 2025 International Book & Pamphlet Competition judged by Kim Moore

Abeyance looks at different kinds of estrangement – within the body, across borders, and in close relationships. The poems dwell in moments of suspension and uncertainty.

In Abeyance we are taken on a wild ride through form and language. There is an exemplary sestina which is scorching in its condemnation of capitalism and exploitation of labour, whilst asking questions about what we place value on. There’s a beautiful meditation on time through the examination of grammar and tense, and a restless, searching energy in each one of these poems. This was a pamphlet that stayed with me, and I’m really excited to see what Annina Zheng-Hardy might do next. – Kim Moore
