As part of our ‘Apart Together’ digital project, The Poetry Business has partnered up with The Writing Squad to host a digital residency with a Squad poet each month. Each poet will be producing and posting digital content for The Poetry Business, such as blog posts, audio recordings, writing prompts and more.
Elizabeth Gibson is our Digital Poet-In-Residence for February.
Elizabeth Gibson is a Manchester poet, scriptwriter, and performer whose work explores city life, queerness, body image, and mental health. She was announced as a New North Poets at the 2017 Northern Writers’ Awards, and her work has appeared in Introduction X: The Poetry Business Book of New Poets, as well as 404 Ink, Confingo, Lighthouse, Mancunian Ways, Popshot, and York Literary Review. As a writer-performer, she has worked with Manchester Literature Festival, Yorkshire Dance, Dibby Theatre, and Oldham Coliseum.
For her residency, Elizabeth will be looking at February as a transitional month, focusing on the changes we experience as winter gives way to spring. This will include pieces about her walks around Manchester’s centre, canals and regeneration areas, which will tie into themes of mental health and how we see ourselves within the wider landscape.
