November Digital Poet-in-Residence: Prerana Kumar

As part of our ‘Apart Together’ digital project for 2021, The Poetry Business has partnered up with The Writing Squad to host a digital residency with a Squad poet each month. Each poet will be producing and posting digital content for The Poetry Business, such as blog posts, audio recordings, writing prompts and more.

Prerana Kumar is our Digital Poet-In-Residence for November.

Prerana Kumar is an Indian poet who has recently completed her MA in Creative Writing at UEA. She has recently been shortlisted for Nine Arches Press’ Primers scheme and has been published or has work forthcoming in Magma, Barren, Verve Poetry Press’ Community and Diversity Anthologies, Use Words First, and Ink Sweat & Tears. She writes about how sense of identity hinges on home, memory, desire, and the tenuousness of intergenerational inheritance.

As part of her residency, Prerana will explore rituals (cultural/somatic/intergenerational or otherwise) as a conduit of intimacy, tenderness, and connection. She will be in conversation with other poets as well as creatively engage with this poetics of ritual in the form of varied lyric responses.
