Ann Sansom

Co-director, Editor & Tutor

Ann Sansom is co-director of The Poetry Business and editor of Smith|Doorstop and The North.

She is a poet, playwright and tutor. She has published six collections of poetry; had work published in several Forward/Faber anthologies, Russian Vogue and a range of other publications. She has also written and directed plays for stage and radio.

Her two full-length poetry collections are published by Bloodaxe.

Peter Sansom

Co-director, Editor & Tutor

Peter Sansom has published Writing Poems (Bloodaxe) and five collections with Carcanet, including a recent Selected Poems. He has been writer in residence with M&S, company poet with Prudential, and Fellow in Poetry at both Leeds and Manchester Universities. 

With Ann Sansom he is a director of The Poetry Business and co-editor of The North magazine and Smith|Doorstop Books.

Ellen McLeod

Co-director & Business Manager

Ellen McLeod is Business Manager and a co-director at The Poetry Business.

She has worked in several project management and research-based roles in the arts since completing a Masters degree in Cultural Policy and Management in 2010. Ellen has been working at The Poetry Business since 2011.

Suzannah Evans

Assistant Editor

Suzannah Evans lives in Sheffield and her pamphlet Confusion Species was a winner in the 2012 Poetry Business book and pamphlet competition, judged by Carol Ann Duffy.  Her debut poetry collection Near Future was published by Nine Arches Press in November 2018. Her poem ‘Helpline’ has been ‘Poem of the Week’ on the Guardian website and she won a Gladstones Library residency with Near Future. Suzannah has worked for the Poetry Business since 2015, first as production manager and now as assistant editor, and also teaches creative writing. 

Eleanor Holmshaw

Administrator

Eleanor Holmshaw is the Production Manager at The Poetry Business, manages the finances and makes spreadsheets for Opus Independents, supports Wordlife with events and projects, and keeps the books for Arts on the Run. She can otherwise be found in the pub, reading, on the train or ranting about how wrong the world can be. Often all at once. 

Katie McLean

Marketing & Publicity Manager

Katie McLean is Production Manager and Marketing & Publicity Manager at The Poetry Business, as well as a Reader Leader in Criminal Justice settings for The Reader (based in Liverpool). She graduated with an MA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Sheffield and spends most of her pocket money on books (and book shelves). She lives in Manchester. 

Jess Timperley

Marketing & Communications Officer

Jess graduated from her undergraduate degree in English Literature in 2017 from The University of Sheffield. Since then, she has worked for The Poetry Business as the Administrator and as a Bookseller at Waterstones. Jess completed her MA in English Literature in August 2019, specialising in poetic theory. She is now Marketing and Communications Officer at The Poetry Business and has recently been granted a Print Futures Award.
