We are sorry to say that the poet and translator Yvonne Green has died. Yvonne was important to The Poetry Business, as an outstanding writer and also as a dear friend, who will be greatly missed. She was kind, generous and in so many directions an inspiration.
After working as a barrister in the Inns of Court, she turned to poetry, winning the International Book and Pamphlet Award with Boukhara, in 2007, judged by the then-Poet Laureate, Andrew Motion.
Yvonne published five further collections as well as celebrated translations, in particular from Russian (her work features in the Penguin Book of Russian Poetry) and the remarkable After Semyon Izraelevitch Lipkin.
A new collection of her poetry is in preparation.
