We were very sorry to hear of the death of John Foggin. He was an outstanding poet and a very special man. He was a great friend to us and to the Poetry Business, and we are proud to publish his book, Much Possessed, which was a winner of our Competition in 2015, chosen by the then American Poet Laureate, Billy Collins.
John’s last book, Pressed for Time, was published recently by Calder Valley. It was reviewed by his great hero David Constantine, and we are glad that John did see this full and insightful appreciation (though it won’t appear until next month’s issue of The North).
John will be missed by so many. His widow Joan (whom he called Flo) has posted that the funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday 14th July at Dewsbury Crematorium. More details — and if you wish to say you will attend — can be found at the truly Great Fogginzo’s Cobweb, johnfogginpoetry.com.
