The Lyric Lie

When we first caught up in preparation for this digital residency — even before we got to mind mapping ideas — we discovered that we had both lived in Essex at different times in our lives.

In fact, we happened to have seen the same obscure student film. Admittedly we both had fairly sketchy memories of it but as both of us often took inspiration from cinema, it felt like a synchronicity we couldn’t pass up. For this first instalment, we decided to write a poem each responding to said student film (a short called House of Cards (we think)).

Farrow Dreamsong #2 – Gregory Kearns

Our next instalment will be a transcription of our discussion responding to each other’s pieces, considering our approaches to poetry, cinema, and how memories work.
