Our Lot

£10.99

At its heart, Our Lot, Stuart Pickford’s highly anticipated third collection, focuses on care across generations — what we inherit, what we pass on, and what remains.

These poems explore the stretch of life when we are simultaneously someone’s child and someone’s parent, while also asking: how do we carry our parents once they are gone? Running parallel is the relationship we have with our children. The father moves from instructing his son when washing up to admiring him as he travels abroad. Complementing these concerns are poems on running, love and the skills of people we encounter day to day.

Through poems that explore themes of endurance, survival and pushing through, Our Lot illuminates the complexities of caring and letting go, again and again.
