Bluer Than This

This collection explores the ambivalences of family relationships, of love lost and found.

‘Coolness and smoothness have always been the twin trademarks of John Harvey’s poetry, but I detect in these new poems a tenderness and warmth that make the writing even more worthwhile. From the heart, now, as well as the hip.’ — Simon Armitage

John Harvey is a critically acclaimed crime novelist. He is also a broadcaster, and the mainstay of Slow Dancer Press. He has adapted many works, including his own, for radio and television.

Harvey’s poetry is powerfully influenced by jazz and painting – there are poems here on Chet Baker and Pierre Bonnard, Edward Hopper and Thelonius Monk – and by the landscapes of North America and England.
