Joan Jobe Smith

    Texas-born, Californian-reared Joan Jobe Smith has a reputation for her narratives about her childhood, her marriages and the sisterhood of women who sustain each other through difficult times.

    Joan Jobe Smith has done 6 reading tours of the UK, debuting 1991 @ Aldeburgh Poetry Festival, and last appearing 2012 at the Hull Literature Festival and London’s Betsey Trotwood. In 2006 her poetry collaboration with Fred Voss TEATIME @ THE BOUQUET MORALE was a winner of the Nerve Cowboy Poetry Competition (Austin, Texas); 2012 Silver Birch Press (US) published her literary profile CHARLES BUKOWSKI: Epic Glottis: His Art & His Women (& me). Her poetry and prose continues to be published internationally, most recently in Paris, France’s 2014 LADYLAND: Littterature de Feminine Americaine (13enote) and UK’s AMBIT and Quincunx.

    Her memoir Tales of An Ancient Go-Go Girl, released December 2014, has epigramic poems preceding each of the 12 chapters what include In 1963 and Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band from her Smith Doorstop book The Pow Wow Cafe.
