Kathryn Simmonds

In 2004, Kathryn Simmonds’ first pamphlet, Snug, was a winner in the Poetry Business competition and was subsequently published by Smith/Doorstop. In 2008, Kathryn won the Forward Best First Collection Award with Sunday at the Skin Laundrette, which Michael Symmons Roberts lauded as “a remarkable debut.” Also shortlisted for the Costa Poetry Award and longlisted for the Guardian First Book Award, the collection was described in the Guardian as a “playful and knowing first collection fuelled throughout by a strong sense of lyricism.” In 2013 her second collection, The Visitations, was published and she became the first Poet-in-residence at the Charles Causley Trust in Cornwall. Her novel, Love and Fallout, partly set at Greenham Common, was published in 2014.
